Reopening issue ...

I request the same ability. I was hoping to use this for a kitchen family planning display. We will get requests for kids parties, sporting events, etc and some ability to scroll months would really be helpful to see what is currently planned.

@jkliman, DAKboard shows a "rolling" monthly calendar, meaning that the current week is always the first week shown. So when you get to the end of a month, you'll still see the next 3 weeks. With that, I don't think there's a need to switch months. If you disagree, please let me know and I can reopen the issue. Thanks!

I would like this feature also, perhaps with another keyboard shortcut to switch between monthly calendar and agenda mode.

I would like to request this feature also. I love Dakboard with its photo integration and RSS feeds, but we currently use a paper family organiser, flipping through the months to plan ahead/check whose birthday is coming up next, etc - not being able to do this on Dakboard feels like a restriction that shouldn't be there. Thanks for a cool service - this feature would make it perfect in my eyes.

I just got my (damaged) board today and was more disappointed by the fact that I cannot see a year. So yes a scrolling button for the calendar based on your settings IE weekly/4month would be a must.

I sadly returned my new Dakboard today for some of the same reasons mentioned above. Our use case was a shared family kitchen calendar that would integrate various gmail and ical calendars and replace the paper calendar we currently use. The rolling calendar layout is good but there are definitely times when we need to scroll farther ahead (or potentially backward). Support instructed me on how to do this but it required adding a mouse and keyboard so that pretty much brings us to having a computer in the kitchen. I like the weather, RSS and other integrations but not enough to give up the functionality of the paper calendar that Dakboard is missing. Also....I am hoping that some day Dakboard will be able to leverage SmartBoard technology such as those used in schools to be able to interact directly with the display.

While awaiting this feature to be prioritized into development, the new "Buttons" block type could be used as a workaround by:

  • Setting up one Screen for the "current month"
  • Setting up a second Screen for the "next month" (or an otherwise alternate view)
  • On this next-month Screen, change when it starts showing dates by editing the Calendar block "Settings", and change its "Offset" to "5 weeks".
  • Now, add a Button block on each that is set to switch to the other Screen
  • You can repeat this, again, and bump the offset once more for a 3rd month Screen, if you wish, as well.

Then, providing you are using a touch-screen or otherwise clickable device to view your Screen, you can click on the button to flip between the views!

Hi team, thank you for your suggestion. Thank you for taking the time to make suggestions to DAKboard, the majority of new features are developed from feedback from the community like yours. At the moment we have reviewed this request and unfortunately this is not a route we are looking to take with the product at this time and highly recommend taking Dan Peck's suggestion of utilizing the new button feature to solve this. Please feel free to comment and add any additional context that may update the original use case and we can review.
