1080-toolkit's Issues

Configure styling

  • Create a holistic style guide
  • Implement a CSS file and inject into the HTML files

[Style] Make current page's menu item differentiated

Currently, all of the menu items are the same whether you are currently at their linked page or another.

In tandem with the color palette, choose a "We're here" color and a "We're not here" color for each topic.

Resuscitate makeascale

We have the makeascale app functional in all tested browsers; however, our current version is not up to feature parity with the original.

Bring it back to life one commit at a time.

Inject makeascale

Only after #58 is completed, consider bringing in the makeascale app into the chrome of our site.

@davidforrest, does this seem logical to you, or would you prefer in its own site?

[Style] Improve color scheme

Use a pastel color palette which is pleasant and is more appropriate for the learning lab.

We can either use a preset color palette, or algorithmically generate pastels.

Add new logarithms image

The current image gives a mathematical description of a logarithm, but doesn't quite give a sense of how logarithms are experienced in a variety of ways (in log pots, sliders, earthquakes, pitch, etc.).

Add link from Canvas

This can't really be achieved in this codebase, but it can be crossed-off-the-list here when it is completed elsewhere.

Update logarithms page

  • Insert image in "What are logarithms"
  • Embed videos
  • Format "more resources" and write descriptions

Update coding page

  • Get new notebook installation vids from salma, host on vimeo.
  • Increase volume on salma's individual notebook videos & host on LL Vimeo.
  • Blurb for "what's a Jupityr Notebook"
  • Add one-sentence overview descriptions of each notebook video

Create concept dependency graph

It could be interesting to map out all of the concepts in a dependency graph.

Could show some historical concurrences, etc.

[UX] Add link blocks to landing page

There are currently wide horizontal blocks for the Math, Music, and Coding sections with too much info.

Create a trio of horizontally laid-out blocks with just a single one-sentence intro.

[Style] Improve responsiveness

The initial style configuration did not focus too much on responsiveness. As such, the site will render a bit weirdly on a very large screen or mobile.

Update derivatives and integrals page

  • Add "How do derivatives and integrals relate to music?" blurb.
  • Add Integrals paragraph in the "What are derivatives and integrals?" blurb.
  • Embed videos
  • Format "more resources" and write descriptions

Update complex numbers page

  • Copy "What are complex numbers" from Google doc w/ LaTeX
  • Embed videos
  • Format "more resources" and write descriptions

Update differential equations page

  • Write "How do differential equations relate to music?" blurb
  • Edit "What are differential equations" blurb (see google doc)
  • Embed videos
  • Format "more resources" and write descriptions
