What feature are you talking about that should be removed?
Do you want to increase the 10 letter threshold?

There are only two use of tooltip in the StatesEditorController and it is the same feature.

controllers/states_editor.py:245: inner_label.set_tooltip_text(tab_label_text)
controllers/states_editor.py:551: page.title_label.set_tooltip_text(tab_label_text)

The Issue is not specifically about removing this feature! It is about to decide what to do with this feature. The intention is to use the not functional state of the feature to may re-defining it. To remove the feature is only one possible but extrem outcome.

I think it is useful that the tooltip is giving additional information (at the moment the full name) of a tabs-model/state by hovering the tab-label (the shorten name). But I also would support more information. But this is only my opinion.

So I guess the amount of how often set_tooltip_text is called is irrelevant? Or does it have to be called more often in order to show the correct information all the time?

I agree in that the tooltip text should at least give the full name of the state. Maybe then in brackets its path or so.

Yes the amount of assignments of new tooltip_text-elements is not of relevance it is always shows a rectangle (text-label with no visible text) with a yellow background.

Could nobody reproduce this when hovering the StateEditor tab-label?
