I suspect this is actually a bug in uglify itself, can we reproduce with a "simple" script that invokes uglify-es directly with our params and reproduces? If it is reproducible with uglify only then we should report upstream.
See ember-cli/ember-cli-terser#32 (comment) where I show how to repro with the uglify CLI. The rough tl;dr is:
uglifyjs --compress --beautify beautify=false,semicolons=false --mangle -- input-snippet.js

Yeap, this is clearly reproducible with just using uglifyjs
. I'll open an issue upstream.
