where-durableobjects-live's Introduction

Where Durable Objects Live

Created by the wonderful Jed Schmidt, and now maintained with ❤️ by Alastair. Source Code available in this repo.

Cloudflare Durable Objects are a novel approach to stateful compute based on Cloudflare Workers. They aim to locate both compute and state closest to end users. This page tracks where new Durable Objects are created.

where-durableobjects-live's Issues

Show all POPs in one list

I seem to remember there was a page (the only one?) a while ago which showed all of the POPs and their frequency of usage. This was quite helpful to get a sense of which POPs host DO’s and which don’t.

If I look at Oceania, it shows only the places where DO live, but not Sydney, Auckland, etc. where they don’t.

Is TraceURL correct?

I noticed your code is using this trace URL:

let traceUrl = 'https://www.cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace'

And I noticed the https://workers.cloudflare.com/ page which displays the response time to your neasest POP actually uses https://1.1.1.1/cdn-cgi/trace instead.

For me 1.1.1.1 says my nearest POP is Brisbane (correct), where as cloudflare.com says Sydney.

Do you know the difference? Do you believe you are using the correct one?
