something like this is working here
npm run test-cover | tee results.txt
cat results.txt | grep -oP "All\ files[^\d]*(\d\d?\.?\d?\d?)" | grep -oP "(\d\d?\.?\d?\d?)$"
npm run test-cover | tee >(grep -oP "All\ files[^\d]*(\d\d?\.?\d?\d?)" | grep -oP "(\d\d?\.?\d?\d?)$")
wow this works, credit to this Mr Davisson
{ PER=$(npm run test-cover | tee /dev/fd/3 | grep -oP "All\ files[^\d]*(\d\d?\.?\d?\d?)" | grep -oP "(\d\d?\.?\d?\d?)$"); } 3>&1
