Yeah, that behavior comes directly from Django. I guess you could bypass the MRO and do something like this:

class IndifferentNullBooleanSelect(NullBooleanSelect):
    def __init__(self, attrs=None):
        choices = ((u'1', _(u'Indifferent')),
                   (u'2', _(u'Oui')),
                   (u'3', _(u'Non')))
        Select.__init__(self, attrs, choices)

This way you get the custom __init__ and the rest of the behavior from NullBooleanSelect. This is sub-optimal, maybe passing custom choices to NullBooleanSelect should be allowed with some kind of validation to make sure values are restricted to '1', '2' and '3'.
