unable to import bvh

hi there, I'm trying to import bvh from mocap software TPD ( https://digital-standard.booth.pm/items/5294636)

getting this error

Error: RuntimeError: file C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2020\Python\lib\site-packages\pymel\internal\pmcmds.py line 130: Only one transform or joint can be selected for creation

I create a humanIK skeleton and select the hips joint. then press import.

Maya 2023

Install on Scriptfolder

Start with Code:

import bvh_importer
bvh_importer.BVHImporterDialog()

get Error:

import bvh_importer

bvh_importer.BVHImporterDialog()
# Error: SyntaxError: file <maya console> line 1: invalid syntax

Not importing

when I select a bvh file to import i get this error:

Error: IndexError: file line 262: list index out of range

I tried both ways letting the script generate the skeleton or adding it to one and I get the same error.
The bvh file works fine in motion builder, but if i could get it to work in Maya that would be awesome.

I am learning python now so I am slowly wrapping my head around what you got going on in here. I tired something weird(which I know is not right, but I wanted to see what would happen) I commented out line 262 and got this:

Error: ValueError: file line 286: No object matches name: _mocap_standard_walk_1_bvh_grp|Genesis|Genesis.Shape.rotateZ

It generated more joints, and had keyframes attached at the first frame, but still failed

I am in Extension Maya 2014

can't make an import

Hi,

I followed your directions exactly (I think)... I placed the script in Users > Shared > Autodesk > Maya > 2013 > scripts. But when I restart Maya and try to execute the script I get an error message:

Error: line 1: ImportError: file line 1: No module named bvh_importer

I'm on MacOSX 10.7 using Maya 2013 (student edition).

Any idea what might be going wrong?

Error while running the script

Hi,
I am trying to import a .bvh File into my maya scene by using your script but I always get the same error, no matter if I want to assign it to an existing Skeleton or if I want to create the skeleton with the script.
The error is:

Error: IndexError: file line 257: list index out of range

The line changes sometime from 257 to 262.
I have no idea what the problem is and I really need to get the .bvh files working in maya.
I hope you have an answer to my problem.
And thanks for uploading the script.

I followed the installation instructions for Mac and put the script in every scripts folder I could find. I saw the other error report, I was getting that error to begin with. Now I am getting a new one. Here it is:

Error: line 1: IndentationError: file line 1: expected an indented block

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
