Color for proteins too, please! (hydrophobic vs hydrophilic vs charged is most important, if you want a simple scale)

I am trying to use dnacol to color code the DNA sequence. However, if the sequence contains a character other than A,C, G,T, or N then the line is not colored. Can you please let me know if there'a a way to force coloring despite the presence of other letters in the sequence which come up from parsing text from image.

These are the base colours I'm most familiar with seeing:

A-green
C-blue
G-gold
T-red

🔗 lesspipe.sh is a popular configuration for LESSOPEN that dispatches to different filters depending on file types.

As far as I understand, it should be able to integrate dnacol with lesspipe.sh by providing an appropriate .magic file that informs lesspipe.sh of the supported file types. It would be great if dnacol would ship with the required configuration to make setup easy for interested users.

In the following screenshot, produced by gunzip -c file.fastq.gz | dnacol, the first ID line contains highlighted fragments (the N just before the end, as well as the barcode). The subsequent ID lines, by contrast, aren’t highlighted. Why is that?
