Convert images to vectorized line drawings for plotters.

• Exports polyline-only svg file with optimized stroke order for plotters;
• Sketchy style powered by Perlin noise;
• Contour-only or hatch-only modes.

Dependencies

Python 2 or 3, PIL/Pillow, numpy, OpenCV (Optional for better performance)

Usage

Convert an image to line drawing and export .SVG format:

$ python linedraw.py -i input.jpg -o output.svg

Command specs:

usage: linedraw.py [-h] [-i [INPUT_PATH]] [-o [OUTPUT_PATH]] [-b] [-nc] [-nh]
                   [--no_cv] [--hatch_size [HATCH_SIZE]]
                   [--contour_simplify [CONTOUR_SIMPLIFY]]

optional arguments:
  -h, --help            show this help message and exit
  -i [INPUT_PATH], --input [INPUT_PATH]
                        Input path
  -o [OUTPUT_PATH], --output [OUTPUT_PATH]
                        Output path.
  -b, --show_bitmap     Display bitmap preview.
  -nc, --no_contour     Don't draw contours.
  -nh, --no_hatch       Disable hatching.
  --no_cv               Don't use openCV.
  --hatch_size [HATCH_SIZE]
                        Patch size of hatches. eg. 8, 16, 32
  --contour_simplify [CONTOUR_SIMPLIFY]
                        Level of contour simplification. eg. 1, 2, 3

Python:

lines = linedraw.sketch("path/to/img.jpg")  # return list of polylines, eg.
                                            # [[(x,y),(x,y),(x,y)],[(x,y),(x,y),...],...]
                                            
linedraw.visualize(lines)                   # simulates plotter behavior

input file from webcam capture?

Hi is this possible to merge or run a bot to check folder that have the image file as input ?

i found this python script to capture webcam photo.. https://github.com/kevinam99/capturing-images-from-webcam-using-opencv-python

im on windows but then i dont know how to run bash both your script after the 1st script.

After an apparent regular generation of paths:

I get the following error message:

Color mode

Your tool is so cool!!!
I made a color version of the fork https://github.com/mitxela/plotterfun but didn't test the result with my plotter up to now - https://grbl-plotter.de/plotterfun-color
Also drag & drop of an images on to the canvas is possible
To do: I can't change the order of the colors (the lightest color first would be nice), output scaled to given mm (somehow a factor of 3.78 is applied...)

Produces only small SVG images ?

Misopened because used wrong software ...sorry.

I tried to pip install it but can't find the package. I also tried downloaded the linedraw.py and import it, but it seems require some setup.
