Best Approach to getting rotation data from plugin

Hey,

I'm looking into leveraging this plugin and im looking to extra the rotational data from the plugin (ideally as Quaternion).

I believe we could go direct to webgl and extract the data, but it would be ideal to get this information from a more managed pipeline,

Is there a way of currently doing this in the plugin? or is this something coming soon?

Odd display on vr headset htc vive with chromium 12-23 build

Reproducible Code Snippet or URL: use the local-example on htc vive and point to the webm version of the sample video assets (note I had to pull this from the metacdn CDN instead of the videojsvr s3 bucket)

HLS iOs hack working intermitently in Safari

Thanks for the iOS hack #8. I could verify it is working though not all the times.

When using the video-js-vr plugin with our player(Brightcove). I am facing some issues where the isHLS() function, which is part of the logic to apply the IOS hack, is not correctly working. In desktop and mobile Safari.

I have identified the issue to be that some times at the moment of executing isHLS() - videoEl.src comes empty. Then the logic to match with the list of sources fails.

Any ideas why the videoEl.src can be empty on some ocassions? One out of ten times the src will be correctly populated and the hack applied correctly.

Can the isHLS logic be simplified to use player.currentType()?

Player with fixed size

Hi,

When I tried using the plugin in a player with a width and height different than 100% (Ie: 600px X 500px) the Webvr-buttons are not placed correctly(Outside the player) and the fullscreen toggle does not work correctly neither.

Is this plugin intended to only be used with a video occupying 100% of the screen?. Should I be using the i-frame approach if I want a non fullscreen sized player?

IOs 10.2 Iphone 6 - Glitching

Hi,

Running the hosted examples in Iphone6 IOs 10.2 I can experience a black glitch while moving the phone. (Fullscreen mode, cardboard mode, and normal mode). Also the movement doesnt feel smooth. If phone is left static video will play fine.

Testing in Android and Iphone 7, the experience is much better. No glitches and a very smooth transition.

Are you also experiencing such glitches in Iphone 6? I have tried changing the WEBVRConfig parameters, (BUFFER_SCALE) with no luck.

Cardboard

This is great! I have a lowly cardboard. Any blockers to getting it to work there?

With the Firefox 55.0.3 update the player wont allow mouse interactivity on the window.
The same happened with Edge.

"cardboard" feature.

Does it have the "cardboard" feature ? or any plan to implement it ?
The idea is basically to split the video vertically and create two views ...

Player size weirdness after exiting cardboard mode

Reproducible on example and iframe on both Samsung S6 and iPhone 7

Polyfill for not 360 degree videos

How is it possible to activate the polyfill to view the video with cardboard with a video, that is not in 360 degrees?
Gear VR for example is able to viewing a video without 360 degrees in full screen, but how is possible to activate the splitscreen for cardboard?

If I set presentation to "NONE" it is also still not working , if I activate FORCE_ENABLE_VR.
There should be an option like 2D, that is doing the same as the 2D option of the Gear VR.
And if I choose one of the 360 degree presentations it is not viewing me the full video.

What is projectionSelection for and how can it be used?
I can not figure out, how to display and use the menu button.

Remote assets for testing in `local-samples` script not loading

The npm run local-samples no longer works and returns Couldn't connect to https://videojs-vr.s3.amazonaws.com/0.2.2/samples/milford-sound.webm (404)

That said, I was able to download files from the hosted example by manually downloading them.

I'd suggest we revise the local-samples script to mirror the exact same samples used in the hosted example.

Controls in controlBar

If I see it right in this fork the controls are not inside of the controlBar like in upstream.
Why has this been changed?

I tried updating the solution to use npm for videojs-vr, however the most recent package doesn't include our changes (removing the player), even though the branch has been merged in.

Can you bump the npm package?
