Hi Phil,

  1. I'm afraid I don't understand your proposal completely. Could you please provide a mockup what you would like exactly to see?
  2. Well, this could be implemented as a global option, i.e. the administrator can choose if, for new users, course news will be collapsed or not. As soon as an user open / closes a course news, this setting doesn't have effect anymore for this particular user. Is this what you meant? Is there really a need for this setting - I mean, if course news are collapsed by default, some users might never see that there are couse news because the arrow to open the cource news is quite subtile.

I will think about these two things again when I work on the Block for 2.6, which won't be before christmas I'm afraid depending on our start of testing 2.6 in university.

Alex,

I just installed the block in our 2.5 prod servers. It's working very well!!

I am also interested in feature #2 that Phil suggested. It could be nice to have the course news collapsed by default. We moved to 2.5 on Dec 2013 and probably wait a year for moving to 2.6. Is there any way to modify the block code for 2.5?

Thx,
Thelma

Dear Phil,

As I didn't hear from you again about your proposal no. 1, I didn't think about it anymore. If you still want this proposal to be considered, please give me some more details.

Your proposal no. 2 is included in the Moodle 2.6 release of the plugin.

Dear Thelma,

I'm afraid that I can only add new features for the latest versions of Moodle due to my limited time. You can try to run the Moodle 2.6 version of this plugin in Moodle 2.5. Just download the 2.6 version and remove the "$plugin->requires..." line from version.php. But as there have been changes in the 2.6 version of the plugin based on some Moodle core changes in 2.6, I don't know if it will work without problems.

Sorry....
