This fork will implement features not available in emacs:
- Plugins will be written in arbitrary languages(plugins are just programs talking to stdout and reading from stdin)
- UI will be decoupled from the editor.
I'm assuming you are asking this question to me, and not trying to create a flame war between editors, so here are my reasons:
- I dont like lisp excessive use of parenthesis
- I dont like emacs or evil(I've tried, it just didnt work for me)
- I like vim
- Editors are a matter of personal choice.
Hope that clears your mind.

I almost wonder if GitHub should have a Q/A section for repositories, where stuff like this could go. (Unless I am Severely Mistaken, this is not technically an issue…) 😉

Yes, did not mean to start a flame war. Just wanted to check what the reasons were.
No offense intended.
With best wishes,

Nah, GitHub doesn't need that. This is more suitable for a forum or mailing list. Something like http://gitter.im could suffice though

- Because we want to use vim.
- Because we want vim integrated into modern third-party tools (e.g.
Eclipse).
Neither vim nor Emacs can do this today.
