Macroquad Website

The Macroquad website is built with the Zola static site generator and uses a heavily modified version of the AkiDocs theme (which is MIT licensed). The main difference in the Macroquad website theme from AkiDocs is that semantic CSS is used instead of Bootstrap.

Developing

1. Fork & clone the repository
2. Download Zola, using the version specified in .github/worksflows/ci.yaml
3. Run zola serve to start up a local web server for the site
4. Make changes develop locally

Deployment

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and gets deployed automatically when code is pushed to the source branch using a GitHub Action.

Contributing

Submit pull requests with changes to the source branch (the default).

Wrong RSS url?

Every pages in the site for example https://macroquad.rs/twiq/week2/ has a hyperlink in the footer that points to the wrong page for the RSS https://macroquad.rs/twiq/week2/atom.xml.

I believe this should be https://macroquad.rs/atom.xml, instead of being relative to the page. Though, it would be great if there is also individual RSS support like https://macroquad.rs/twiq/atom.xml and https://macroquad.rs/articles/atom.xml.

Website top nav overflows on phone

When looking at site with phone the top nav overflows off the screen

Home page has floating footer

The home page of macroquad has a floating footer, it's an easy fix though, just make the body have a min height of 100vh and make margin-top of the footer auto.

Inline code in lists overlaps with text on the page

Replace Semantic UI with a maintained Zola theme

The currently used front-end framework for the site, Semantic UI, hasn't seen a release since 2022. I find it unintuitive, and the current theme lacks a lot of modern features like Dark Mode.

I propose we switch to using a Zola theme, view the list of them.

In particular, I think that Juice looks quite nice and could be a good fit for the project.
