Current status is beta: it should mostly work, usage might find issues.

Apart from English translation, the actual work was to replace two list of words in the original javascript. The hint for this came to me from: https://bert.org/2021/11/24/the-best-starting-word-in-wordle/

Run nim r itLines and replace two lines in wordle-it.js to regenerate.

Non trovo una definizione di tale parola. Non è la prima volta che mi succede.

Non viene generato un nuovo gioco quando cambia l'ora legale?

Gioco a Parle dalla California, dove ieri (domenica 13 marzo) è cambiata l'ora legale. Oggi, 14 marzo, noto che Parle continua ad offrire il la parola n. 69, lo stesso del 13 marzo. I miei amici in Italia invece vedono la parola n. 70.

Il problema persiste anche in un nuovo gioco (niente cookies) e da localhost.

Sospetto che il problema possa essere legato all'ora legale? In particolare, in un paio di punti nel codice, l'epoch viene calcolata come Math.floor(a % 864e5 / qs), che sembra problematico quando l'ora si sposta in avanti, perchè la differenza tra due giorni diventa meno di 86400 secondi.

(queste osservazioni vengono da un'analisi frettolosa del codice minificato - potrei sbagliarmi di grosso!)

La nuova versione del gioco non sembra soffrire di questo problema.

condivisione risultato su Firefox

Ciao, usando il browser Firefox non mi permette di condividere il risultato. Una volta scelta l'app (es. Telegram) mi appare l'avviso unsupported content. Potresti verificare se ottieni lo stesso comportamento? Grazie

Due parole diverse

Intanto super complimenti per il lavoro svolto, davvero.

Oggi, 14/02/22 su Firefox (screen 08:18) mi sono trovato una parola e su Chrome un'altra (screen 08:22). Chrome l'ho inserita al primo colpo perché altri mi hanno rivelato la loro soluzione.

Problemi di fuso orario

Buongiorno, vivo in Canada e da qualche mese sfido mio padre - in Italia - a Wordle e a Parle, quasi ogni giorno, senza problemi di fuso orario. Dal 31 ottobre però ci capita di non poter giocare più con la versione italiana: la parola che mio padre trova è quella che a me viene proposta con 24 ore di ritardo. La sua parola il 31 era "lizza" mentre io avevo "patio", che lui non ha mai avuto.

With current setup (same list for both) I could keep it empty, but I should definitely have more words in it

randomly pick whether to load analytics

people using this service are growing and if that number keeps going up I might hit my limits of views for plausible analytics. but there is an option: I could randomly pick people for which to track analytics and load the analytics script only once every x times the site is loaded! It is a hack but I am not really interested in the full analytics anyway*...

*note that in this case a person who was not loading analytics might load it after a refresh, this means that the relations between visitors and page views will be skewed in some way (and sampling 1 out of 2 I should not expect half of the visitors but more than half! German variant

Dear @pietroppeter

I like the game and your clone of it :)
I decided to create a German variant of it.
I already reserved some domains wordle-deutsch.ch and wordle-deutsch.de and pulled your repo to it. Of course I will keep all your copyright notes.

Now I have some questions:

1. I see the wordlist is in the variable Aa in wordle-it.js. But what is Ta for?
2. I see you also kept other wordlists in the repo (60_000_parole.txt, itLines.js and dictionary.txt), is there a reason for it?

update to more recent Wordle

there have been recent updates to Wordle (fixed a bug, added stats icon). Changes in general can be tracked by the commit hash. I should track in some way this commit hash, I should update to more recent js and create some nim code that helps with this automatic updates (and it should also help managing and curating the word selection).

Problems when you start a game at 11:59 p.m. and finish it at 12:01 a.m.

I started a game at 11:59 p.m. and finished it at 12:01 a.m., which did not give any problems immediately. Now the day's word is not loading, as if the previous day's word has overwritten the current day's word.

Test Clones

this Italian translation started (Jan 3) when I realized it would have been super easy to make starting from the original source. It was targeting a group of friends passionate about this type of games (we keep having a very active chat about this) and went somewhat unexpectedly "viral" (blame wordle for that).

The original source is not licensed in an open source way and not having received any explicit permission to use it from the author I always felt I should use one of the available clones. The most notable one is https://github.com/hannahcode/word-guessing-game (which had just seen the first commits at the time I released Parle and there is also a guide on how to use it to make clones in other languages). Others are listed in the excellent https://rwmpelstilzchen.gitlab.io/wordles/

Here I should list all possible clones and start testing them how to adapt them to Italian. My idea is to have a few (or just one...) of them live in parallel to the main one and at some point make the switch selecting one of them.

Ciao, nella versione originale di Wordle si trovano estremamente raramente verbi coniugati mentre in questa versione sono i più comuni. Si potrebbe modificare la lista per ridurli?

Differenze pratiche fra vecchia e nuova versione

Ecco in pratica cosa differenzia le due versioni:

• nuova versione > è possibile giocare a partire dalle 01:00;
• vecchia versione > è possibile giocare dalle 00:00, la Parola è però quella con cui il giorno precedente hai vinto nella nuova versione (ritardo accumulato per via del giorno-buca causato dal cambio dell'ora).

All'interno del mio gruppo di amici continuiamo comunque a utilizzare la vecchia versione, sia per mantenere le nostre amate statistiche sia per poterci sfidare a mezzanotte, orario più fattibile rispetto all'una.

cambio numerazione a partire dal 3 gennaio

la prima parola è stata "oncia" il 3 gennaio e la numerazione dovrebbe rispecchiare questo ordine (il motivo per cui non lo fa è essenzialmente perché non sapevo che le dati in javascript hanno mese che parte da 0 e giorno che parte da 1). Nel fare questo cambiamento conto di aggiungere n° prima del numero per segnalare il cambio di numerazione. conto di sviluppare questo cambio contemporaneamente al dizionario curato, vedi #25

Parole con la doppia

Ultimamente c'è una strana alta frequenza di parole con una consonante doppia. Ci potrebbe essere un motivo tecnico?

Stesso ip, stessa parola del giorno

Ho provato ad aprire l'URL da dispositivi diversi agganciati alla medesima rete domestica, quindi uscenti tutti con lo stesso IP. Pur presentando la pagina iniziale con la griglia vuota, la parola del giorno rimane la stessa, quindi se da un dispositivo l'ho trovata negli altri posso trovarla sempre al primo colpo.
Forse potrebbe essere una soluzione agganciare la generazione di una nuova parola o la sessione giornaliera anche ad un cookie da depositare nel browser oppure usare lo user agent.

Innanzitutto, grazie: la tua è di gran lunga la migliore versione italiana, tant'è che nell'ultimo mese ho fatto appassionare decine di familiari e amici, che ora attendono spesso la mezzanotte per sfidarsi immediatamente. L'unico punto del quale vorrei chiederti è quello anticipato nel titolo: indovinare Xyyyy e Wzzzz si è rivelato frutto di tentativi praticamente casuali alla ricerca della lettera mancante, ed è un peccato veder fallire parole come Ayyyy e Byyyy, Czzzz e Dzzzz, che invece ci stavano alla grande. È bello scoprire nuovi vocaboli mentre insegui la parola del giorno, ma il traguardo finale mi piacerebbe fosse sempre un termine più comune. Rinnovandoti i miei complimenti, cordiali saluti.

Problema ora legale?

Oggi viene proposta la stessa parola di ieri. Non so se dipende dall'ora legale, ma ho visto che anche l'anno scorso c'era un problema analogo. Se fosse questo il problema ho visto che è risolto nella "nuova" versione del gioco, ma è possibile continuare a giocare su questa vecchia? (per non perdere le statistiche sul nuovo)

for the words, I will use:

• weary -> buffo
• pilot -> guida
• vague -> vaghi

they are in current word list and they are kind of related in meaning (buffo which is close to being an antonym of weary).

Nel wordle originale il tasto condividi copia il testo e poi lascia incollare all'utente dove vuole, mentre usando la tua versione oggi per la prima volta da telefono, mi ha fatto aprire la scelta dell'app con la quale condividere "qualcosa".
Selezionando WhatsApp, ad esempio, viene mostrato il messaggio di errore "Non puoi inviare un messaggio vuoto".
Indagando un po' ho visto che cerca di condividere:

translating share with "condividi" makes the letters overflow the button in mobile mode. I think the fix should be to remove the share icon and "condividi" should fit again
