universal_gtao_booster's Introduction

PoC that fixes two GTA Online bugs and drastically improves load times for all systems

Original work by tostercx, massive thanks to them

All addresses are found at run time so that it works on all platforms

Disclaimer

While chances are low, modifying your game might get your account suspended, use at your own risk! I am not liable!

How to use

Inject the dll found in releases with a DLL injector of your choice (Xenos is my go to, Extreme Injector is another popular choices) and then just head online
NOTE : You can inject whenever you want as long as GTA5.exe is running and before you've started to head online

Anti-virus

If you're having issues with your AV flagging the file, I'm sorry that there's not much I can do. The only AV that seems to really be having an issue is Defender. I've ran the file through VirusTotal and there's only a single detection. I've submitted the file to Microsoft in the hopes that they no longer flag the files but there's a good chance that won't help much. If you're scared away by this I understand but unfortunately it's beyond my control.

How to build

  • git clone --recurse-submodules https://github.com/QuickNET-Tech/GTAO_Booster_PoC
  • build the project with MSVC
  • inject the DLL with your favorite injector while the game is starting up

or

  • in visual studio start a new project and provide a link to this repository

universal_gtao_booster's Issues

Minor UI bugs

Nice work on the logos - wanted to have a look at those but you beat me to it :)

Ran into a few problems while testing (both with auto-injection/manual launch w/ Xenos).

  1. The new prompt that asks if you want a console spawns under the game for me.
I'm guessing it's created before the game's window is, that's why it happens? Works fine if I inject later.
I didn't notice it at first and was wondering why nothing worked. So I rebooted the game 3x and missed the prompt 3x (lol...)
  2. The console doesn't get closed if I inject before the window is created. Tried debugging it, failed. The console API is pretty bad tho, wouldn't be surprised if it was a bug. Hiding it still works FWIW ShowWindow(consoleWindow, SW_HIDE);

Pattern 'n' failed!

As soon as I inject the .dll into the game process (GTA5.exe) I got this error.
Im injecting while the game is in the first screen (where you choose to go online or Story mode)

ini save path triggers "Unexpected files found" message from Rockstar Launcher

Hey,
first of all, thanks for your addition to tostercx's amazing work!

When using your provided .dll v1.0.2+, it seems that Rockstar Launcher detects the .ini in the install directory, opening a window before starting the game stating that unexpected files were found and can result in a permanent ban.
Now, I don't think you'll get banned for the ini, but players without that much technical knowledge might be scared.
Also, at first, I didn't even know that the configuration ini is at fault.

Because of that, it might be a good idea to create the configuration file in the path where the .dll is already in.
What do you think about that?
