Error when loading 20_aux-line.el in GNU Emacs 24.0.94.1 (x86_64, GTK+ Version 3.2.3)

set-face-attribute: Symbol's function definition is void: adjust-color

I tried to use indent-hint.el. But when I eval-buffer or require it , Emacs always says "End of file during parsing". Strangely, M-x check-parens doesn't report any error. 😕
Problem also existed in emacs -Q.
Tested on Emacs 24.3.90.1 2014-04-13

I recently ditched the https://github.com/antonj/Highlight-Indentation-for-Emacs for indent-hint.el. I really loved the way it show the indentation, but it is too slow when I tried with python or something I did is wrong.

I added (load "~/.emacs.d/indent-hint.el") to my .emacs file
and start it using M-x indent-hint-mode

P.S. I'm not good with elisp
