See the Launcher-specific API that allows the iOS and OSX Readium apps to refresh the state of their "previous / next page" buttons:

This is the kind of API that we need to "backport" into the shared-js codebase. Then, Readium SDK launcher apps can be refactored to adopt the newly-exposed shared Javascript API.
