weblatex's Issues

PDF viewer is blank

I have been looking for alternatives to Overleaf and found this interesting project.

I used this repository as a template a few times to try it out, but every time I open the compiled PDF of the sample LaTeX file, I get a blank PDF viewer window. The details are as follows.

  1. The sample LaTeX file compiles successfully.
  2. When I click on the PDF, a new tab is opened to authenticate the port. The tab does not show anything after the initial load and remains open.
  3. After a few seconds, a demo.PDF opens in the editor window but does not show the contents of the PDF.

Has anyone experienced this issue and knows how to resolve it?

I am running Firefox 111.0 in macOS Ventura 13.2.1.

Some questions regarding WebLaTeX for a project

I found out about this project a little while ago and I'm considering using it as a replacement for Overleaf for a project I'm working on. My colleague has experience using LaTeX on the platform but the two of us are struggling to make the UI easier to use. I have a couple of issues that I'm trying to resolve here and I'm curious about how to fix them:

  • When using VSCode on my computer for this Codespace, hitting Ctrl + S doesn't generate a PDF and place it on the side of my editor
  • All of my files end up using some resources from preamble.sty and I want to place the file in one folder and access it in each subfolder without copying and pasting the file to each Unit X Assignments folder. Is this possible?
  • This isn't too big of a deal but is there a way to get rid of the other files used while building the PDF to make things cleaner?

The project's available at mrgarbagegamer/GEL if you can take a look; I like the features and collaborative abilities of WebLaTeX but I'm having trouble just simplifying things so we can easily use it for our purpose.

self-hosted version

Hello. This is a great piece of work. Thank you for all your work.

Do you think it would be possible to have a self-hosted version?

Need Examples for Porting Overleaf Project

Problem:
Facing Errors While Uploading Overleaf Project

Request:
Provide a Template for Overleaf Project Porting

Details:
I am encountering difficulties when trying to migrate an Overleaf project to my local environment and build the .tex file. I believe having a template for this process would be incredibly beneficial.

Overleaf Template:
Deedy CV Template

Additional Information:
I'm looking for assistance in successfully transferring an Overleaf project to my local setup. Having a template or step-by-step guide would greatly aid in resolving the errors I'm encountering during this process.

Running it as a dockercontainer

I've never worked with devcontainer before, but is it possible to convert it to a docker image?
I don't want to pay for githubs workspace while already having servers that can do it.

I tried doing an similar approach with codeserver which didn't quite work as expected, therefore I'm curious.

Cannot install new packages

Whenever I do:

root@codespaces:/workspaces/username# tlmgr install resume

I cannot install packages:

tlmgr: Local TeX Live (2021) is older than remote repository (2023).
Cross release updates are only supported with
  update-tlmgr-latest(.sh/.exe) --update
See https://tug.org/texlive/upgrade.html for details.

no access to copilot?

I'm a newbie with codespace, so this is likely to be something very simple.

When I try to install WebLaTeX as a template in my own Git account, I get errors that I don't have copilot:
