Missing CredCon sponsorship

CredCon was sponsored by Protocol Labs, which we need to attribute properly. As well as contributions surrounding this, like making the pledge, bookkeeping and reporting outcomes.

Inquiry into raising our recent policy decay

I tried seeing what it would look like if we increase the recent policy decay to make it so newcomers can have faster access to income. The results aren't fully what I had imagined:

CredCon contributions missing

As many of the CredCon contributions were not tracked by data plugins (GitHub / Discourse) we're missing a feature in the Initiatives plugin to track these and attribute Cred.

For now that means we're only technically able to define Initiatives and link that to Champions.
Attribution would be a lot more fair with the ability to include Contributions and their Contributors.

The feature is being tracked in sourcecred/sourcecred#1739
Once available we should use it here to add CredCon's contributions.

CredCon/Partner Initiatives change 100x to 200x

The 200x multiplier for this batch (added through #27) seems in the right ballpark, however we want to
avoid champions see Cred "dilute" because we'll add more contributions.

The idea is to start with 100x now, and move to 200x as we have a more complete coverage.

This is a tracking issue to remind ourselves, we should move to this 200x when we've reached that better coverage.

Review: Initiative edge weights

The Initiatives plugin has edge weights that were mostly theoretical and decided months ago (sourcecred/sourcecred#1416).

image

We should have the features we need now to express many contributions with Initiatives. Talking with @decentralion about this, I think it would be good to first create some more Initiatives, and then review if these edge weights are working for us, or need changing.

Initiative to Attribute Cred for Political Philosophy Research

Includes

  1. research on governance patterns and making that available to the sourcecred community in an applied fashion
  2. efforts to recruit people experienced in this area to the source cred project (also just includes learning from experts)
  3. discussions on topics related to political philosophy which are formative in the value system of sourcecred community

examples

  1. @burrrata is doing some enthographic research on how people use and govern sourcecred through deployments of AraCred (this would incentivize porting it back to sourcecred community)
  2. @decentralion is taking meeting with folks like Nathan Schneider and Seth Frey, as well as participating in the MetaGov.org seminar series
  3. in my opinion @LexBirdie , had some critical contributions to the value system formation of sourcecred as we know it today.

Help us track Cred issues

We're just now rolling out the first Initiatives.
In this topic, @decentralion explained well why this is really exciting!
https://discourse.sourcecred.io/t/rolling-out-initiatives/698

[...] This is really important to me because we have a number of contributors
who have been adding a ton of value through organizing events, running community
calls, spearheanding partnerships, and more. So far, these contributors haven’t
been receiving cred for this work, and that isn’t fair. Now that we have the
initiatives plugin, we can start to make this right! [...]

I'll encourage you to read the rest of this topic.

Important to know is, Cred will be changing while we do this, and contributions may be missed. Fear not, here's what you can do about it.

If you notice something off, missing, or seems like it could be improved,

Don't fret too much about how to report this "correctly", we don't have a fixed way for this.
Tracking these issues is what's important first. We'll work with you from there.

However, please keep in mind the feelings of your fellow contributors. Comparing people's and contributions' "worth" can be hurtful. Word your messages with all the compassion you can muster. 🙂

Missing CredCon hackathon creations

As mentioned in #27, not yet added are:

  • CredCon: CredRank prototype (have not decided fibonacci weight)
  • CredCon: Discord prototype (have not decided fibonacci weight)
  • Evan's explainer (have not decided fibonacci weight)

Deactivate Beanow

ID: exRnXjjq810aDBfjOPqHzA

My current activity doesn't warrant future tax administrative burden. To would like to deactivate to be sure.
Haven't kept up with the tooling, so making an issue instead of PR.

Possibly a mistake in last grain sales?

I believe there may be a mixup. Unless I'm missing some major fee or a decision to no longer redeem 1:1.
For the requested 4000 grain

I received 3000 USDC.

Juan Benet -- contributions to SC's founding

Juan was very important in SourceCred's founding; SourceCred was sparked during a conversation between Juan and myself, and he brought support from PL which has been invaluable to the health and trajectory of the project. He should have some cred.

Legal support from Protocol

The PL legal team has provided some valuable guidance:

  • @ianjdarrow gave a bunch of general support / guidance to me
  • Marvin Ammori, Marta Belcher, and Ian all were present in a discussion that led us to realize that we should keep the Grain price pegged to USD. Jason Somansetto also reviewed.
