Artefact with no text/inscription
If we are doing an object with no written text/inscription, do we just leave all those sections of the document empty or do we need to remove the tags? Thank you!

Treebanking
So far, working on the treebanking I have found that it really does require a fuller understanding of your chosen language. Working through the Latin text, I find I'm made very aware of the gaps in my knowledge of Latin from being a bit out of practice. I can really see how it could be used in conjunction with more traditional methods of learning Latin to get a better understanding of how to really engage with texts when translating them.

A Small Problem with EpiDoc: the display of Greek circumflex
I have a small problem with EpiDoc. I find that the Greek accent mark of circumflex sometimes cannot display properly and drifts away slightly from its original place. I notice that it usually happens besides or in square brackets. Is this simply a technical issue of the display, or is it possible to fix it?

Problem with EpiDoc
I have been working on the exercise for this week and have come across an issue. For some of the inscriptions that I have chosen, lines end in "=". I couldn't find this marker in the Leiden conventions, but from context, I assume that they are places where a word starts on one line and continues on the next. Is it necessary to note this when we encode inscriptions? If so, how should it be noted? If not, should we eliminate the "=" in our code?
Example:
In [hoc] l[oco] iacet
bone memorie
Bo[nifatius] q[ui] bicsit
in [h]oc sec[u]lo an=
5 nis L ueq[ui]ebit
in [p]ωce s[ub] [d]ie ((%6)) Kωl(endis) Sep=
tembre indictio=
ne [duod]ecima

Problem with treebanking in Greek
I have a small technical issue with treebanking in Greek. In the second sentence of our set text, there is a phrase of ὑπ' αὐτῶν. When I put the text into the treebanking tool, even if I have ensured that it was pasted as plain text and no space between ὑπ' , the tool always detects it as separate and marks this [ ' ]as a punctuation, which is meaningless and I need to adjust the xml file by myself to fix it. I am wondering if anything is wrong here.

Problem with the display of 'last recorded location' and 'repository' in EFES
I have a question about the display of 'last recorded location' and 'repository' in EFES.
When I tried to encode the museum that an object is now kept in, I put the information in element. However, I found out that EFES does not have such a line, and it will only display the content in <provenance type="observed">
element in 'last recorded location'. Only when there is nothing in this element can the information in <repository>
appear, but still in the same place, 'last recorded location', which seems not to mean entirely the same as something like 'present location' or 'repository'. I am wondering if it is normal or if it is because EFES has simplified and limited the kind of information that it can display.
EFES server not working
Hi everyone,
I know this is a bit late but I wanted to quickly run my XML through EFES tonight to make sure everything works, but my browser is 'unable to connect' to the server. I followed the video on how to set up EFES and it said it would take a while for the server to start up but it doesn't seem like it's going to at all. Is there something obvious I might be missing to make it work?

Greek characters with subscript iota
Hi all. My computer decided to update itself last night and closed everything I had opened. Now when I look at my file in oxygen, all letters with an iota subscript just appear as little boxes. Is there someway I can reformat this or do I just need to copy paste from the online inscription again? Thank you!

Problem with using existing treebank data in Latin
I have a question about how to use existing treebank data like AGLDT. @gabrielbodard
It seems that Dendrosearch is a tool developed only for the Greek data, so I am wondering how we can query the Latin data. I have tried to put the XML file (downloaded from https://github.com/PerseusDL/treebank_data/tree/master/v2.1/Latin/texts) into the Arethusa platform or paste their links to the platform, but then it always says 'Error creating publication (during creation of collection object):undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass'. So I would like to know how to query the Latin data and if there is any specific tool like Dendrosearch. Thank you!

Problem with Diorisis Corpus
Hi all,
When I tried to enter a text from the Diorisis corpus into Voyant, the only thing it picked up was the publishing info. So instead of an analysis of the Greek text and Greek words appearing, I just got things like 'university' and 'published'... Has anyone managed to use the corpus successfully?
Thank you and all the best,
Letty
Uploading document to Recogito
Hi everyone, I am having trouble uploading any documents to recogito... They just never finalise and the upload wheel just keeps spinning... Has anyone else had this issue? And when I try and use the Perseus section of the RISE Repository I just get an error message when I select a text...
Planning your Recogito exercise: tags, annotations, visualisations…
- Create a free account on the Recogito online platform
- Click on this link to access a collection of inscriptions found near the Theatre of Dionysos in Athens. You will notice that the document is made of a number of separate files, each of them an inscription.
- Clone the document in your personal workspace (instructions will be given during the seminar)
- Have a preliminary look at the texts, and then decide how do you want to annotate them. What aspects of these texts might be interesting to highlight? What tags would be useful to employ? What can the map-based visualisation tell us? Can the use of the relationships annotations bring different insights? And, above all, does the use of this tool help you to formulate research questions?
- Feel free to experiment with the different visualisation modes. Try visualising by tags and by part. Do these changes suggest new questions?

Verbs Lacking in Latin Treebanking
Some sentences of Phaedrus seem to lack the predicative, compared to the given sample. For instance, the text shown is "Laniger contra timens", but should there be a respondet after timens?
Thoughts about research and learning in video games
-
Look at some of the free games on Itchio, and play just enough to get a feel of the gameplay, quality, affordances. You might like to try one or two from each category including: Archaeology, VR, AR. Think about how each game, in particular, and the platform and technologies in general, could be used in learning or research.
-
Based on these ideas and discussions, come up with your own concept for either:
- an AR game based on your own locality or an archaeological site/archaeologically rich area you know well, involving photogrammetry, geolocation, and an engine like Niantic; or
- a VR game/exploration platform for a site that could be both imaged and reconstructed and then built in something like Unity.
You are not expected to build these games or even understand how the software works—even better for your imagination to be unfettered by the limitations of the technology!—but think about the possibilities and outcomes. What audiences would you address your games to? What would be the learning outcomes? What development would you need to make this work?
-
(optional) Continue to think about your game design over the next couple of weeks, and try to come up with some storyboards, mock-ups, high-level design factors. (These can be pen-and-paper, or using whatever technology you are comfortable with.)

Capturing glossy surfaces with Agisoft Metashape
Has anyone managed to capture surfaces that have a more glossy texture with Metashape? While details on matte surfaces look fine, more glossy areas with less surface detail are coming out looking like melted wax.
