jhu-thesis-template's Issues

Figure and Table Captions

Hi there,
I'm having trouble with captioning figures and tables. The following command does work fine:

\begin{figure}
\includegraphics[width=0.9\textwidth]{rjvheadshot}
%\caption{Hello}
\end{figure}

However, uncommenting out the caption breaks it.

Package biblatex Error

We were trying to compile the thesis with TeX Live 2018 locally on our computers. When running make clean && make in console, we got

...

?

I could not find solution to this error anywhere on the Internet. After a few hours of experiment, I found it was this line that caused the problem

\usepackage[a-1b]{pdfx}

If I delete it, I can get the compiled pdf file, but that makes it not compliant with the PDF/A standard.

Next I found there is no problem if this line is placed anywhere after setting up biblatex (\usepackage[...]{biblatex}), or right before \begin{document}.

I am not sure if the template is compatible with older LaTeX environments, but I hope you could update it, or I can send a pull request.

Other versions

Hi,

I just finished making a template with a makefile based on https://github.com/muschellij2/PhD_Thesis. John Muschelli edited your template quite a bit and in particular also supports Rnw files for those of us that work with R. The template I created is available at lcolladotor/jhu-thesis-template. It was easier to fork Muschelli's version and go from there than to fork yours. I also added a read-only version at Overleaf available here and submitted it to their gallery as a template.

After doing so, I noticed that the Overleaf gallery has already a template based on your version. It was submitted by Karla Hernandez on March 2016 and is available here.

Anyhow, the advantage of using Overleaf (or ShareLatex) is that you don't need a full LaTeX installation on your computer.

Best,
Leonardo
