Water Level Offset in 1.11.2

Hi McJty -

I'm using the exact same profile for two versions: in 1.12, the offset is functioning as expected, but in 1.11.2 in two different server worlds, the water level remains at y63.

cfg file

Server generator options

Can't seem to get a server up with a worldgen variant type (chisel, tallbuildings, realistic etc)

I added the string you mentionedin the description:
generator-options={"profile":"nodamage"}

When the server ruins, the server properties file is regenerated with an extra character:
generator-options={"profile":"nodamage"}

I'm assuming this may be the problem... ?

Water Tower generation issue

When the building with a water tower on top gets wore down, the top part of the tower remains flying in the air.

[Suggestion] Expose vanilla Customized worldtype settings in Lost Cities worldgen

The vanilla Customized worldtype is exceptionally flexible, and allows for quite a lot of fairly impressive things to be done with it.

As an example, Quark's 'Realistic' worldtype is actually simply a wrapper for a preset made by soniop on reddit, and described here.

Having the ability to at least use the preset json text either in the world creation screen in-game or in profile definitions in the lost cities config would enable quite a lot of interesting world generation patterns.

Problematic generation of doors/explositions, strange generation of vines

https://imgur.com/a/zKNU5

Sometimes an explosion destroys the bottom half of a door and leaves the top half. This itself is problematic, but has an even stranger interaction with Malisis's doors (with don't-replace-vanilla-doors set in the configs): Right clicking the broken door will open the other side of a double door in a pair, but not open itself, and it can't be right clicked to close it.

As for the other interesting thing I noticed, sometimes a lone vine will spawn on a glass block or glass pane. I tested, and it's not possible to put vines on either one yourself, and I don't see anything like an explosion removing blocks nearby.

[SUGGESTION] Allow adjusting road width

I want to replace the generated roads with my own road, but I don't like the fact that the width of the generated road doesn't match my own. It would be nice if I could adjust the width of the generated road through the config.

.10 Beta Crash-to-desktop while pregenerating world

Also on 1.11.2 with a BoP world under the "chisel" type - but with tall city buildings and some other cfg changes.

crash paste

I was using a chunk pregeneration command block to pregen a potential server world and the crash occured very early on. If there's more info i can get you here (cfgs or world seed) let me know.

FYI, I dont necessarily post these from a "hey there, mod developer, fix my bugs" perspective, but just to give you more info that might help you in your efforts to optimize the mod. If it becomes more noise than signal, just let me know.

[1.12]Dimension does not use config

I changed the dimensionProfile config to S:dimensionProfile=chisel in order to use the chisel profile, however the dimension still uses the default profile when loaded in game. It also does not seem to generate a biomes o plenty world type (dimensionBoP is set to true). I have both chisel and biomes o plenty installed.

Tested with only the following mods installed
Forge 14.21.1.2443
lostcities-0.0.19
BiomesOPlenty-1.12-7.0.0.2291
Chisel-0.0.13.14
CTM-0.2.1.5

Thanks!

Configs - add clarification for "levels"

Hi McJty - I'm not sure what "level" refers to in these cfg lines: "Below this chunk height cities will be level 3". A clarifying line in the cfg file might be helpful.

I'm thinking other users may not understand this either, but maybe its just me. :)

World Gen - holes in ocean

MC 1.11.2 and LC "lostcities-1.1x-0.0.7beta.jar"

Came across a couple of chunk sized holes in ocean biomes - sent screen shots via Twitter, but here is the screen again

Possible cascading worldgen issue?

I saw this while playing around in a test world:

[10:50:54] [Server thread/WARN] [FML]: The Lost Cities loaded a new chunk (-38, 23 Dimension: 0) during chunk population, causing cascading worldgen lag. Please report this to the mod's issue tracker. This log can be disabled in the Forge config.

Version: 1.12-0.0.11beta

Incorrect lighting in lost cities worldgen

Short version: Most buildings in lost cities worldgen (this is using the Chisel worldtype, but I would expect it shouldn't matter) are not having their lighting updated after the building is generated.

This results in interiors being fully (or near enough as to make no difference) lit inside, as if most of it was being hit by sunlight. This is especially blatant in the cellars, which should be pretty damn dark, but somehow aren't.

At first I thought somehow the chisel blocks were transmitting sunlight, or that the sunlight value per column wasn't being correctly adjusted, but I was able to confirm with a set of tests that this isn't the case.

Images for reference:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9H6zC2vFoivQmYwWXM2dlJ0VFE/view

At this point, the entire roof of the building should be in shadow, with at most mild lighting at the edges.

This is essentially an inversion of the unlit trees issue, where once you can force the incorrectly lit blocks to update...

... the situation drastically improves.

ATM3 Server World Type: lostcities_bop - client cannot connect to server.

I am trying to set up a ATM3 Server on my PC. It's got an i7-6700k 32gb DDR4 RAM, GTX980 TI, so it's more than powerful enough for this sort of thing. I've opened plenty of FTB servers in the past on it. My problem though seems to be with attempting to open an ATM3 server with a lostcities_bop world type. The world generates and the server seems to open. (At the very least it's not crashing) But when I try to connect via localhost for testing I either get the "Logging In..." message which hangs indefinitely until I force close the client or after 3-5 min of loading it just fails to connect and gives me the typical Connection Timed Out message. Now, I have been able to open a normal lost cities world type and connect to the server with no problems. But as soon as I change the world to a lostcities_bop world type I can no longer connect.
I should note that I am using the exact same configuration files for Lost cities on my client with the exact same seed in a single player world and it works fine. As soon as these same settings / config files are used to create an identical world with the same seed on the server, my client can no longer connect. I am at a loss for what could be causing this or how to fix it. Let me know if you need anything else other than the files I have pasted below.

Here are all the lost cities and ATM3 server configuration files and setting files I have changed from the default.

profile_server.txt
server.txt
settings.txt

And here are some server logs which might help for troubleshooting.

Non-biome entries in cityBiomeFactors list causes crash

I'm tinkering with the cityBiomeFactors settings in preparation for a server, and because it's a collaboration I had some comments in between blocks of biomes for my partner on the project.

Any blank line or comment in that space yields:

I think if there's a problem with a config file Lost Cities should probably complain to the console so that an end-user knows where the problem is.

Also it'd be nice if it didn't error on comments. ๐Ÿ˜€

[1.12] Ore generation problems

The generation options I currently have for the profile I've set as default (and yes, I have checked that I'm using the right profile) are as follows;

{"coordinateScale":175.0,"heightScale":75.0,"lowerLimitScale":512.0,"upperLimitScale":512.0,"depthNoiseScaleX":200.0,"depthNoiseScaleZ":200.0,"depthNoiseScaleExponent":0.5,"mainNoiseScaleX":165.0,"mainNoiseScaleY":106.61267,"mainNoiseScaleZ":165.0,"baseSize":8.267606,"stretchY":13.387607,"biomeDepthWeight":1.2,"biomeDepthOffset":0.2,"biomeScaleWeight":3.4084506,"biomeScaleOffset":0.0,"seaLevel":63,"useCaves":true,"useDungeons":true,"dungeonChance":7,"useStrongholds":true,"useVillages":true,"useMineShafts":true,"useTemples":true,"useMonuments":true,"useRavines":true,"useWaterLakes":false,"waterLakeChance":49,"useLavaLakes":true,"lavaLakeChance":80,"useLavaOceans":false,"fixedBiome":-1,"biomeSize":6,"riverSize":8,"dirtSize":33,"dirtCount":10,"dirtMinHeight":0,"dirtMaxHeight":256,"gravelSize":33,"gravelCount":8,"gravelMinHeight":0,"gravelMaxHeight":256,"graniteSize":33,"graniteCount":10,"graniteMinHeight":0,"graniteMaxHeight":80,"dioriteSize":33,"dioriteCount":10,"dioriteMinHeight":0,"dioriteMaxHeight":80,"andesiteSize":33,"andesiteCount":10,"andesiteMinHeight":0,"andesiteMaxHeight":80,"coalSize":85,"coalCount":4,"coalMinHeight":0,"coalMaxHeight":128,"ironSize":45,"ironCount":4,"ironMinHeight":0,"ironMaxHeight":64,"goldSize":18,"goldCount":1,"goldMinHeight":0,"goldMaxHeight":32,"redstoneSize":32,"redstoneCount":2,"redstoneMinHeight":0,"redstoneMaxHeight":16,"diamondSize":8,"diamondCount":1,"diamondMinHeight":0,"diamondMaxHeight":16,"lapisSize":16,"lapisCount":1,"lapisCenterHeight":16,"lapisSpread":16}

The ore settings are, however, being ignored, and ores are generating at vanilla sized veins. I also checked the log for any errors that might indicate I messed up the preset somehow, but couldn't find any.

Enhancement Request

How feasible would it be to have the option of a Lost Cities "mini-biome" to replace natural village spawns in a limited fashion? IE, 10% - 25% of village spawns are replaced with a Lost City. This would aid in exploring the Overworld while using additional terrain altering mods without having to select the Lost Cities world type.

Mansion generation issues in Lost Cities worlds

I know from #46 that it was necessary to re-implement Mansions, but there are a couple of ways in which Lost Cities mansions are different from vanilla mansions beyond just the /locate command:

First, they're generating in arbitrary biomes. In vanilla, Mansions only generate in the Roofed Forest biome, but they seem to have no such restriction here. This is resulting in some weird things (and I suspect they're generating more often than they should as a consequence).

Two, because the vanilla 'Mansion' feature isn't generating in the world, the Cartographer villager cannot sell maps for finding Mansions. This actually cuts out a key vanilla mechanic for progression.

I don't know if you can fix the second, but the first definitely should get some attention.

This is MC 1.12.2, forge 2501, Lost Cities 1.0.1, BiomesOPlenty-1.12.2-7.0.1.2298. Plus other mods.

No vanilla structures

I don't know if this is intentional or accidental but with the LostCities preset I am unable to locate any vanilla structures in any dimension, even when using the /locate command.

Ocean Monument generation issues

Ocean Monuments appear to be spawning in fairly arbitrary biomes; I am right now looking at an ocean monument which spawned under a Meadow/Bog area:

Unlikely Monument

In my current survival world, I have ocean monuments far underneath deserts (so the water isn't visible), and in other unlikely places.

Vanilla monuments should only be spawning in Deep Ocean (with some admittedly complex rules).

This is MC 1.12.2, forge 2501, Lost Cities 1.0.1, BiomesOPlenty-1.12.2-7.0.1.2298. Plus other mods.

Custom Profile doesn't work

I have a custom profile that is a combination of the Safe and No Damage profiles, but spawners still appear and buildings are still damaged. I also disabled caves, but caves still spawn as well.

Profile

This profile is used for the dimension, BTW.

[Request] ATG compatibility

While BOP is decent, I much prefer ATG by CUTS. Could you pretty please make a Lost Cities ATG like you have for BOP?

lost cities partially ignoring cityBiomeFactors

I've been having this problem for a while, keep forgetting to post an issue.

I've got a pretty extensive list of biomes (nearly all the biomes in the modpack, really) for cityBiomeFactors, to have a fine degree of control for where cities can and cannot spawn, as well as affecting density.

I'm having a great deal of trouble with buildings generating in some biomes that are set to 0 in the config file. It's not all biomes, so I'm not really sure what's happening here. I'm relying on the Tellme mod to identify the correct identifiers for the biomes.

A primary example would be the abyssalcraft overworld biomes. Even with these:

    S:cityBiomeFactors <
        darklands=0
        darklands_forest=0
        darklands_plains=0
        darklands_hills=0
        darklands_mountains=0
        coralium_infested_swamp=0

I'm still getting quite a lot of buildings in all of those biomes, and those are as best I can determine the correct identifiers for those biomes.

Currently running lostcities-1.12-1.0.1, on forge 2501.

Tall Cities - adjust explosion presets

Loos like the explosion presets are tuned for regular world gen/height only, so if you generate a "Tall Cities" variant, you end up with a lot of smaller looking holes always low to the ground.

The result are building that look like they shouldnt be standing or buildings with holes in them a la the 1990s Godzilla movie.
Godzilla walked through this!

Probably on your list of to dos, but thought I would mention it.

Crash with Just Enough Dimensions when teleporting to Lost City

Minecraft crashed when I tried to teleport to the "Overworld". I used JED to set the Initial Spawn Dimension to id 2. Then I used the command /tpj 0 to teleport to Dimension 0 which should be a Lost City World. In the World creation GUI I selected the "The Lost Cities" Worldtype but also used the JED dimensions.json to override Dimension 0 with "lostcities" Worldtype.

I'm sorry if I made the mistake or if another mod caused the crash (mentioning @maruohon the JED dev)

Strange generation of OceanMonuments

For once, they get spawned in river biomes, which triggers the real problem.
On generation, they carve out a large block and just fill it with water:

World generation bugs when touching I:groundLevel

Description

The generation process takes forever if the config option I:groundLevel is set to 10. The game is stuck with the "Building world" screen and you never reach your world

If you set it to 20, you do reach your world, but the chunks won't load. You get this: http://i.imgur.com/OT4FCM6.png

  • Mod Version: lostcities-1.1x-0.0.12beta
  • Forge version: net.minecraftforge:forge:1.11.2-13.20.1.2386:universal

Details

Here's my profile.cfg:

Here's my modlist:

It's a wasteland, with no mobs, chisel blocks, taller buildings, and only cities.

Also, I decreased the explosion rate

It works fine if the ground level is set to 71 (default)

[Suggestion] Support for custom building (or road piece?) generation

From Ivorforce/RecurrentComplex#235

My recommendation is creating a double weighted registry (vanilla uses ints but feel free to use https://github.com/Ivorforce/IvToolkit/blob/master/src/main/java/ivorius/ivtoolkit/random/WeightedSelector.java) to register structure generators. Your default pipeline would have weight 1.0.

It's notable that I would much rather generate during chunk population (or both), while your generation happens during chunk prime, so it optimally support both.

"lostcities_bop" generator type mountainous?

lostcities-1.1x-1.0.1
I used the BIOMESOP generation type and the world was nice and good, but when I set the value of lostcities_bop, the whole world turns into a very mountainous one. Why is that?

[suggestion] slime islands/tcon integration

Within Lost Cities, Tinkers Construct slime islands might be really cool if they were presented as rooftop arboriums etc. Can their generation can be lined up to building tops, etc.? Is there a building/slime island synthesis possible (this might be a nice "tall building" that exists in non-tall building type worlds)?

I would be interested in working on a build prototype.
