As title, the software seems to work great with the last.fm legacy scrobbler, but not with the newest client. I spent a good while going round in circles trying to make it work until I realized the setting would not stick because it didnt work with the latest version.

Installing the legacy last.fm client and the setting finally stuck when I hit the last.fm checkbox in the winyl settings.

When using a custom icon the icon is blurry in the taskbar and the volume mixer.

First, I love Winyl. More people should know about this great program. There is one feature I haven't figured out yet. Is there a way to save the playlists I've created in Winyl? I've had to reinstall the program and each time I do, I've lost the playlists I've created in there. Where would this information be saved? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Please put some option for changing the playlist sorting.
By default, it`s sorting by newest date like this

The only way to correctly sort by track number is selecting the disc

When you have compilations with regular albuns this form of sorting becomes a mess

A option to choose how the program sort the files, will fix this issue.

Current Behaviour:

1. Right-click Track X in a multi-track playlist

2. Select Loop Track.
   => Outcome: Winyl plays Track X repeatedly.

3. Double-click Track Y in playlist (or: click the Previous/Next button on the graphical controls).
   => Outcome: Winyl starts playing Track Y (or the previous/ next track adjacent to Track X), & then continues down the playlist without looping Track Y.

Affected Versions:
v3.3 (02 Mar 2018) & previous versions

Expected/ Preferred Behaviour:
Winyl should respect the Loop Track choice & loop the newest-selected track, even after switching tracks in a multi-track playlist. (This is the standard behaviour in all other audio players I'd tried, regardless of whether they are playlist or folder players.)

For easy access, it is better to include a Loop Track button in the graphical controls & Loop Track option in the menu for native skins.

(Note: The existing ambiguously-named Repeat button in the controls replays the entire playlist instead. And from a practical point of view, since a playlist probably consists of numerous tracks that can take a long time to go through before repeating itself, this Repeat button is not frequently used -- be it to toggle the repeat playlist function on or off.)

And for clarity's sake, the respective controls buttons' tooltips & menu labels could be as follows:-

Controls Button: Turn on/off Loop Track
Menu: Control > Loop Track

Controls Button: Turn on/off Repeat Playlist (currently: Turn on/off Repeat)
Menu: Control > Repeat Playlist

It would be nice if Winyl had the option to stop the screensaver from starting while playing back audio.

The playlist information is very sparse.
It will be nice if we can put some more information. Even in the Album line, like this:

I can only achieve this by editing the skin.

I have a problem installing of the Winyl. The same has also happened with the previous version.

I would like to ask if you can compile for linux debian or any kind of executable for linux, as running through wine is not very good. I recently migrated to linux and I really like this player and having it native to the system will be very good.

One more bug :) When I place the cursor on the WInyl icon on the taskbar for the first time after playing a song, the cover is scaled incorrectly. The next time it is already fine. It's like that with every song.

I would like to add new radio channel

The way i'm doing it right now,

1. Add a pre created radio station to playlist
2. Edit playlist item data with the radio station i want

how to edit or remove some elements of playlist. for example - how to remove rating stars ? they are annoying.

I would switch to this player in a second except for one major bug. The 100s of MP3 files I have are all rated from 1 to 5 stars. When I open those MP3s in Winyl, they all default to being unrated. There is NO way I am going to re-rate 100s of MP3s. Is it that hard for you to read the star rating from the MP3 file????

Current Behaviour:

1. Import a folder (or a folder with subfolders) as playlist.
   The source folder & its subfolders contain at least 1 track without embedded album art, & at least 1 image file that may not be related to any of the tracks.

2. Play any track that has no embedded album art.

Outcome: Winyl grabs the first-listed (by alphabetical order) image file in the main folder & displays this image as album art for all tracks without any embedded album art. This happens even when the grabbed image has a filename that is totally different from the filenames of the cover-less tracks.

Besides being visually misleading, this behaviour is not ideal because it is possible that the user has deliberately not embedded any album art within certain tracks, but still wish to keep some totally unrelated images as placeholder/ reminder in the main folder.

(Note: The above behaviour does not occur, if the unrelated image is instead kept in any of the subfolders that were imported as playlist.)

Expected/ Preferred Behaviour:

1. Winyl should not by default display any image for tracks without embedded album art.

2. For users who keep album art as separate images, Winyl can have a menu option to allow user to decide if Winyl should use any image present in the imported main folder or subfolders for tracks without embedded album art.

3. More importantly, if the above option is enabled, Winyl should by right only use the image that has the same filename as the cover-less track's name (either filename or album name) -- instead of simply grabbing the first-listed image with a totally unrelated filename.

I made a Smartlist displaying albums issued in 2017.
My problem is that two different artists released a "13" album in 2017, and the display in Winyl is awful :

A lot of other players store settings in tags within the file, like RATING.
It will be cool if Winyl import this.
The migration for other players will be a lot easier.

Expectation: I have a folder with a lot of songs, all with different CoverArts. When I open up this folder with Winyl and play a song, the CoverArt image display changes to the one of the currently playing song. If I choose another song, the CoverArt image display should change again, to match the CoverArt of the now currently playing song.

Reality: The CoverArt is stuck with the image of the first played song.

Steps to reproduce: Put two songs with different CoverArts in a folder, navigate into it with winyl, start a song, then the other and look if the CoverArt changes.

Is this Project dead or did this Repo move elsewhere?

Did the project die completely? Will the author no longer have time to work on the player? Or is it a temporary phenomenon? When will it end?

Interested in expanding the functionality that affects precisely the quality of sound reproduction. Several alternative versions of sound engine output modules, settings for buffering and bit depth, three alternative playback modes (standard, Full Memory, Direct Input), choice of service or application mode, choice of operating mode with processor cores, priority selection, select system timer interval. Support for VST-plugins.

I don't have an issue, I just wanted to say thank you for writing this application. I use this at work constantly as it's the only simple media player that has ASIO support that I've been able to find. I need to test equipment that have 8 AES3 inputs, and the simplicity of this allows me to do it much more easily. If I didn't have this application, I would have to use something like Adobe Audition or Pro Tools, which are massive overkill and complicated.

This request is about a webserver. Since many people work on the same computer that has Winyl open, so they listen but can't view art. Many people have a secondary screen, tv, ipad or phone for controlling the audio or view the album art.

1by1 player has a simple server, that you can setup via http.
(it only shows next,pause,etc; there is no album art)

Spotispy has the best way to show album art. Fullscreen and controls are hidden.

I think this a great feature, that me and many surely would use.

It would be great if there were a simple option to turn crossfade off.

Maybe I'm not seeing this option, but this is my main gripe with this player. If i click on a track with a sharp impact at the start, for example, this gets totally swallowed by the fade in and is quite unsatisfying. Same when skipping around a track. It ruins the beginnings of quite a few songs and is a black mark on what is otherwise an excellent player.

Some wav files just don't pick up duration. When it's playing, Winyl is perfectly aware of how long the track is, but it doesn't display.

They all have the same metadata version/information, so I don't think that's the problem

Hello. Does Winyl support CD playback? I'm on Windows 10 and I tried it, but it didn't do anything. If Winyl doesn't admit it, I think it would be very interesting to incorporate this function in the player. Thank you.

Because the search term is in both the artist name and the album name, the album comes up twice in search. This also happens for other self-titled albums, and i'd guess this could also happen if the search term is in the track title as well

actually i just tested that - added the search term to a track's title and here it is

There is a chance to we have the option to populate the Artist field of Library with the ARTIST tag instead the ALBUM ARTIST or this behavior is by design?

There is bug in the program related to the covers. After adding a song or album to the program without a defined cover, Winyl uses a cover from others my albums instead blank cover. One likes the most ;)

Will Winyl no longer be developed and maintained by the author? He died?

The amount of tracks could you add a decimal separator . to show its thousand.
A decimal separator, both a comma and a period are generally accepted decimal separators for international use, Europe prefers a dot.

I've just upgraded to a 4K TV and the Winyl resolution at 2160p is jagged and not crisp. Any chance of including this into the next update? Cover images are all pixelated as well...

If you add the podcast playback feature, it will be the best player I've seen.

Many music albums have multiple images, front.jpg back.jpg inside.jpg inside.jpg
A nice feature would be if you could click on the current shown cover art.
Like if you click on the right side, the next image is shown.
If you click on the left side, the previous image is shown.
If you click in the middle the image is zoomed in.
A mouseover or other feedback could show that you are clicking one of these 3 options.

Or maybe an easier way is to add these functions under the right mouseclick (on the image).

When we have a compilation that span for several years, like this

The year field of the album can only pick the year of the first track.
It will be nicer if the year field looks like 1978-2005

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong but Winyl doesn't seem to let me arrange the song order. The playlist is just locked and doesn't allow drag & drop of individual songs to change their play order.

Sometimes an errormessage appears.

It would be nice if the player doesn't stop to show the error.

1. The player should continue,
2. a popup should appear OR even beter write the errors to a logfile, that you should reach via settings menu
3. It is not clear wich folder/file and what error.
   Better would be: "Folder\File.extension not supported" or "Folder\File.extension not found"

It would be nice to have the opportunity to set per-track volume, either manually, or using automatic volume leveling.

Sometimes when listening to pre- and post-loudness wars tracks mixed in a single playlist, it can be quite jarring.

Could you please consider implement the change that Winyl doesn't collapse the Navigation Tree (on the left) at startup but instead displays the opened Folders from last close? Low priority, but it would be a nice feature. So keep the Navigation Tree expanded when Winyl is re-opened. (at best, this should be configurable in the settings)

Could you add Pink Mist skin to Winyl? It's a great skin, but you can't find it anywhere. Fortunately, I managed to download it when it was still available.

The search doesn't seem to be working. Is it case sensitive?

It would be a really nice option to have multigenre support. This usually is done by semicolon delimited entries. Foobar2k and Kodi both support this I believe

I am a new user of the player. I have 3.3.1 64Bit installed.

A couple of times over the past few days the player does not give any output sound. No changes have been done.

The only option I had was to uninstall and reinstall the application and it worked straight.

Is there a better way to address the issue?
