Taelin Arena is an Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) developed by Sunshine Cybernetics.

Note: This game is outdated and not running due to Formality updates. We plan to come back to it in 2021

Fully modable

Taelin Arena is designed to be modified. Users can develop and publish their own heroes using the upcoming proof language, Formality. Templates for art assets and highly modular hero libraries make the task of creating new content refreshingly straightforward. It also features first-class APIs that allows users to load and run match replays in several different languages to gather data, run statistics and do research.

Designed for competition

Taelin Arena is a competitive game: heroes are automatically ranked and scaled for balance, based on winrate and similar metrics. A pool of highly popular, balanced heroes is periodically selected for ranked play, taking in account different sets of human skills such as memory, reflex and strategical thinking.

Get-paid-to-play

Taelin Arena isn't just free-to-play: it is get-paid-to-play. Profits obtained by sales of cosmetics are completely redirected to hero creators and competitive players that thrive in ranked modes, using Ethereum smart-contracts. In other words, company profits are distributed to players, who win money by simply being good.

Efficient & bug-free

Taelin Arena was developed in a proof language, allowing important game aspects to be formally verified for correctness, making serious bugs and errors scarse. In other words, it achieves the highest score of code quality humanly possible.

Usage

  1. You must have Formality(v0.1.252 or latest), NodeJS(v.13.8.0 or latest) and npm(v.6.14.1 or latest) installed
  2. Clone this repo
  3. Run npm i
  4. On the root directory, run node src/server/server.js
  5. Run npm run build_models to build the voxels models
  6. Run npm run build to build the project
  7. Access localhost on Brave, Chrome or similar browsers

Konan is an Akatsuki ninja, from "Naruto Shippuden". She controls paper, with strong jutsus made for high potential destruction and even uses it to fly with paper wings.

The Deku Mask is one of four masks used for transformation. When used, it turns Link into a Deku Scrub. Teichi is a magic tengu warrior

Inspiration

The general appearance of the character is inspired by Japanese culture, with shinobi and tengu demons also in the game Sekiro.

Gameplay

Her gameplay is highly inspired on the pre-rework Chromie, from the Heroes of The Storm MOBA. She is an artillery burst mage. Her abilities have very high range and damage. In exchange, they are all skill-shots with a very high delay, making it very hard to land. To be a skilled Croni player, one must be constantly predicting the movements of the enemy heroes, in order to land her skills accurately.

N'Golo or Zebra Dance is originally from southern Angola. Arriving in Brazil by African slaves, it was transformed into a form of Martial Art today called Capoeira Angola. In Salvador(Bahia), the great master Pastinha founded his school. Gameplay

My initial idea is that Steve is a support / fighter for the team, practically an "engineer" who can build obstacles to hinder the enemy team during the match, but also with the option to defend himself with a basic attack and an ultimate. Great mobility being able to teleport in short distances by the map, giving support more quickly.

The main focus is not that it causes a large amount of explosive damage, its gameplay will be based around "protecting and fighting", making it difficult for the enemy team to win and placing obstacles on the map.

Character: Tophoro

Hero Description

Tophoro is inspired by the characters Totoro(Studio Ghibli) and Toph(Avatar). His personality reminds Thoph's: he is cute but extremely strong and determined to fight; and his body reminds of Totoro: it's rounded.

Gameplay

He plays a tank, has slow movements(because he is heavy), small attack range, must protect the team and help them to damage the enemies.

Theme

His theme is inspired by Toph (Avatar). Toph is probably the best earth bender. She is blind, which helps her to better feel the earth. She is funny, cute and brave in a fight. Tophoro is also blind and uses his feet and stick to "see" the ground.

It's also inspired by Totoro, a large and forest spirit created by Studio Ghibli. He is kinds of shy but very friendly.

Kenko is a magical golem equipped with steel armor with science fiction equipment. It appears to be harmless, but it is a very powerful golem.

Kenko was inspired a lot by the League of Legends's champion, "Blitzcrank", also being influenced by other characters like the equipment of the "Ezreal Pulsefire", another League of Legend's champion. Leaving the influences of LoL behind, Kenko is a character that appears to be harmless, but that can become very imposing, like Alphonse Elric of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Gameplay

Their gameplay is inspired by Blitzcrank and Ezreal, if they were a single character, so Kenko has a robotic movement and technological gadgets that help in his gameplay. Kenko can be either a tank character or a support. Their abilities have a very high range, however they are not abilities that cause extreme damage, having to know how to use them at the right time as support for another player. To master the character, knowing when to use your skills is extremely important.

Her gameplay is designed around long-range mobility and global displacement. She has almost no damage, but she can travel across the map quicky and displace opponents with wind currents. To succeed with Flina, one must be capable of moving around the map quickly, displacing the right opponents to the right locations, breaking the formation of the enemy team and making the overall positioning more favourable to her own team.

Inspiration

Min was inspired by Lyn, from Fire Emblem, in a mixed combination of Valiant Sword Riven, from League of Legends. She also has traces of Chinese culture.

Min is an agile assassin, using both a katana and a dagger to stab her enemies, at the same time she uses fire magic and martial arts, both combined to give her plenty of options in a 1v1 combat. She uses lots of dashes and ways of reaching the enemies, dealing tons of damage. Although she is a very squish target, her damage output compensates that.

Its theme is inspired by the monsters "treant" present in several games and the Hero "Treant" from the game Dota2, with a tone of cuteness from the Robo of the movie "Operation Big Hero".

[MIDDLE] Scything leap

Mononoke dashes in a straight line, dealing damage in all its trajectory and at the end of it, rooting the enemies, but being a light damage skill. Effect still needs to be developed.
The first part of the skill is a dash in a straight line with a set range, this dash will do light damage. When she reaches the end of the line, she does a circular cut, also dealing light damage but stuning the enemies caught in the AOE.

Mononoke creates an (effect that is not decided yet) on a circular area around here, dealing medium damage and healing her(based on either her missing health or the number of enemies hit).

Mononoke deals damage around her in a big circular area, she first casts the skill for 3 seconds, being suceptible to damage, until the last second, where she becomes unvunerable. At the end of the cast, she does heavy damage(fixed amount) to every enemy on the area, stunning them for 1.5s, also dealing damage to her(based on current health, 50% or so).

Zagatur has a very different gameplay: it can't walk. Instead, it plants copies of itself, slowly infesting the whole field with more Zagaturs. It also has a very small HP, dying easily.
